Mondiaal FNV is setting up a learning trajectory and is looking for an international advocacy expert.
Mondiaal FNV (a Trade Union Solidarity and Support Organization linked to the Dutch Trade Union Confederation FNV) is setting up a learning trajectory for a group of (partner) trade union representatives to build their skillset in terms of international advocacy. This means relevant human rights processes of the UN, ILO, and other international mechanisms or standards they could use to their advantage for the national level advancement and safeguarding of labour rights. We are therefore looking for an international advocacy expert to co-create this trajectory with us.
Worldwide, we see fundamental freedoms under threat, making civil society’s, including trade union work increasingly difficult or dangerous. Therefore, it seems crucial to not only focus on worker's rights at e.g. factory level through CBA negotiations, but also steering focus to national policies curtailing or aiding the work and position of the union itself to protect its ability to operate effectively and democratically.
The trajectory is meant to increase the comfort, expertise and toolbox of participants to advocate for e.g. freedom of association and civic space (with emphasis on related labour rights) from their respective positions as trade union representatives. Strong emphasis also lies on gender equality issues such as gender based violence in the world of work.
